Not good

We moved in April 2015 from New Jersey to San Diego. Initial quote was $1400, which after detailed estimate grew to $1900 - still cheap compared to other companies. On the day of the move it grew still more to $2400 + $50 per person tip that moving guys asked for their "professional service". To their credit, they did moved everything quickly without breaking. $2550 - this is still acceptable, and should the problems end there, company would still get a positive rating from me. Unfortunately, 2 of the boxes (one medium-sized and one "wardrobe" box) were lost during the move, and the company did not seem to put any effort into locating them. Gauging prices can be understandable, breaking stuff can be excusable, but just losing items is definitely not Ok. It's been 6 month from our move and we still did not get any compensation.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!

DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE!!!! I hired this company to move the contents of my 4 Bedroom house from NY to FL. To start off they stole several items from me which included 3 large screen TV’s, XBOX with over 50 games, wardrobe box with approx. 25 of my wife’s expensive dresses, wood desk. These items just never made it to FL. The moving men wanted an $800 tip for picking my stuff up, I gave them $50.00 each for 4 guys and thought that was enough, I guess not because they just stole my stuff and probably just pawned it all. They did deliver my 55” TV which they packed, only problem is they smashed the screen and rendered it unusable. Second they gave me a binding estimate of $6,500 and when they got to FL they told me my things took up more space than they estimated and were now charging me over $8,500. Why give a binding estimate if you don’t live up to it? Third, they damaged several items. They put packing tape directly on wood furniture and stripped the finish off several pieces. Other item where chipped and scraped. When it was getting late in the day they didn’t want to put my furniture together, they told me to get a handyman. I later discovered that they lost hardware to put items (wall unit, kids beds) back together and I did need to hire someone to put these pieces together. Unbelievable but 100% true. When I asked the owner where all of my missing TV’s were he said he’ll check his warehouse (not sure why they would be there) He never called me back on that and just told me to file a claim. There was absolutely no remorse or apology from this company on anything. All they care about is getting paid. AGAIN DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, I AM STILL FIGHTING WITH THEM TO GET ANY MONEY FOR ALL OF THE LOST/STOLEN ITEMS.

Beware!

If I could leave 0 stars I would. I thought it best to warn anyone thinking about using Express Line Moving. I have moved several times with other companies and have never had such a terrible experience. First of all, they will tell you whatever you want to hear to upcharge you and get as much money as possible (like saying they will give you your own truck that will be delivered a certain day) but unfortunately they do not deliver on their promises. I moved from NYC to San Francisco and waited in SF for 3 extra days paying for a hotel room the whole time and paid extra to change my flight twice because they were much later on the delivery than they said they would be. The move cost me thousands of dollars more than it should have. Do not trust their estimates, and expect all promises to be broken. I learned the hard way!

Why does it take so long to get a ...

I have a big question mark about their overall system. I asked for a status update on moving of my household items. My items are to be moved between 7-21 days (I think this is also the law). It has already been 17 days. I asked for an update last Weds. It's already been 4 business days if you count Saturday and I still have not gotten an update. Kelly has been calling the driver and dispatcher but I am completely confused how a routine request such as moving status will take such a long time. I have serious doubts about such fundamental process for a moving company.

From beginning to end, the staff was professional and courteous.

They did it with no problem

It was good. They showed up, they were running a little late but they did call me to let me know. We started at like 9:30, it was 3 guys. They packed up everything I had, it took them like 45 minutes, and moved. They were the cheapest quote that I had got, so that was great. There were no like hidden costs or anything funny. They moved me to Delaware. Once they got here it was smooth the same way. I did ask them to do something additional and they did it with no problem. It was great, if I had to move again or if somebody was moving in New York or anywhere, I would recommend them.

It went basically smoothly

It went basically smoothly but there's still a piece of furniture that I haven't received yet. I called them and they told me they were gonna ship it to me but I still haven't got it. Other than that everything went smoothly. They did a very good packing job. One of the gentlemen from their office came to actually see the stuff I was moving out. He quoted me a price but when the guy actually came to load the truck it was double the amount what I was originally quoted.

Excellent and Reliable Service

I used Express Line Moving for my move to Delaware this past summer. They were on time and very polite, and the cost estimate was very close to the final cost. All of my valuables and breakables arrived at our new home intact. I would definitely recommend them to my friends and family.

The problem was the management

It was ok, it wasn't the best experience in the world but we got through it. We only had a few pieces of furniture and yes they did wrap them. The movers were great I had no problem with them. The problem was the management because they neglected to quote a lot of things that they ended up trying to hit us up for charges at the end. When I pointed out that they never put the stuff in the original estimate when they sent it to me, we sort of came to an agreement and they lowered the cost. They were trying to be funny about things. We did a state to state move and when I made the arrangements I told them the date we wanted it picked up, the date we wanted it delivered, and went through everything that there would be packing involved. Then three days before the day we actually moved they called to confirm and the dispatcher that called me to confirm had none of that information on his invoice. So I went through it all again with him and then he added it all up and he said everything's been annotated now. Then when the movers showed up Friday morning they still weren't aware of anything, by that time I was like, "I just wanna get this over with."

Great moving service!

I recently moved from Brooklyn to NJ and used this company. Their crew came on time, and carefully wrapped all of my breakable objects. They also did a nice job moving my piano. Everyone was polite, and there were no breakages. They were also very helpful with all of the packing, and got to the end destination in a timely fashion. Their price was fair and reasonable, since I priced the move with several movers and got much higher prices. I would surely recommend them again.

It was a great experience

It was wonderful. It was my first move using movers. They were excellent, they took very good care of my stuff, and I have not found anything that was broken. Outside of some boxes being turned upside down, there was no other damage and nothing was broken. The guys were all very friendly. They picked my stuff up and wrapped it all up and packed it. The guys that delivered it were very nice also. It was a great experience. It took a little longer than I had anticipated but it wasn't a issue because the home I was going to was already furnished. It took a little over a week to have my stuff delivered, probably 7-10 days. All the people I had correspondences with were great.

It was alright

It was alright, the one thing I didn't like about them is that the gave me a price plus tolls and they tried to rip me off with the tolls. There was a $175 in tolls and that's not what it was. I figured I'd even give them 40-50 cause its the tolls and we went over the Goethals bridge, I figured I'd even give them $50 but not a $175. They had a hard time getting a futon out the apartment but once they did it was fine. I wouldn't go with them again based upon that toll thing. It was all old stuff, it was just all sentimental stuff. It wasn't critical if they banged it up a little bit, to tell you truth I didn't care, I don't think they did it was fine. It really wasn't that long and what happened was that it was much shorter than we thought in terms of the whole move in general. Which was ok cause then they didn't charge the whole amount that we originally settled on, it wasn't a 6 hour move it was more like a 4 hour move.

Their lack of professionalism created ...

First they tried to change the move about 12 hours ahead of time, which was shocking and frustrating. I think they double booked themselves and because of that they showed up 10 hours later than they were originally scheduled to arrive which created lots of complications. We had to move her things to a storage facility, they were late getting to the storage facility so the facility actually closed.........

Not recommend

I wish I had read all this reviews before making the decision of going with this company. I had almost every problem that all guys posted. I talked to Nick, very nice guys behind the phone. Once he has your business, he never responds an email or take your call. The operator is such unprofessional that she says "just a moment I'll connect you" and the says he is a meeting or his not in the office. I've sent pictures of everything I wanted to take from Philly to Miami. One by one and said to Nick I didn't want any surprises. I ended up paying 2.5 (honestly) more and leaving back most of my furnitures. I knew I was going to pay extra, but not this amount and again, no taking all my stuff. Jerry's answer was you should have taken everything (of course paying more)! The good thing is they got to Miami before schedule, the bad thing not being in Miami myself. I told them I could be there on Thursday, they arrived on Wednesday. After talking to Jerry I told him I could receive things in Friday. He said OK, but was going to charge my $500 for waiting one day!!! WTF!!! Then I looked at the papers I signed and they said it could be delivered from 06/16 to 07/16. I guess the guy filled up after I signed because when I spoke with them through the phone with Nick I told him no earlier then Thursday 06/19. So they are saying that they waited for me 3 days!!!!!!!!! From the 16th to the 19th!! What about that! I waited for the truck driver all Friday and from 11am he said he was on his way. He called me at 2pm saying he was 20 minutes away, he then called at 4pm saying the stuck had problems he was not going to make if, talk to the manager. Jerry called me started shouting like a maniac that this was my fault that they've been here since Wednesday and that they were going to deliver on Monday or Tuesday. My question is, why did the driver say something that he couldn't deliver. How can he be 20 minutes away and then the truck broke down?! I've been paying hotel for 3 nights because of this company. I have a pregnant wife and a 10month baby boy. I'm paying rent for an empty apartment. I can't have my baby and my wife sleeping on the floor. Today is Monday, Jerry said he was going to call during the weekend to schedule delivery Monday. I've tried calling and texting he just hangs up. So we are all at the mercy of this company. I'm not worried about be, but is my pregnant wife and my baby which I am concerned of. This guys they only care about the money and think that speaking louder makes them correct. I'm hoping this has a happy ending today and my stuff gets delivered. Or at least a mattress and and the crib. Just received a call from Jerry saying it will be delivered tomorrow Tuesday. One more day of hotel. How's that?? Don't you just hated when people can't see their wrong doing and try to act right upon it? Alejandro Sallustro.

Exceptional Service

These guys were great, very professional and the whole process was smooth. The estimate was a little off, but I'm extremely happy with the service.

They did everything in the proper ...

They were professional, they were very detailed, very little was damaged. They seemed to care about the move--the three guys. It was good. It was an expensive move, but if you can't get away from that they were very good. They worked the entire time, they didn't stop and take a lot of breaks. They were pretty focused on doing the move and doing it right and professionally, and getting all of my things from one place to the other. They showed a level of care there which is important. It was an out of state move so you want to feel comfortable with that.

It wasn't good at all

Basically they broke two major pieces of furniture. Those were the specific items I paid them to pack. It should be two people carrying it inside but one of them was just doing the manager's job, he wasn't picking up stuff at all. I haven't yet received anything from them. I filed a claim but I haven't received a response from anyone as of yet.

Not happy with the experience

First of all, they underestimated my total cost by cubic feet and the charge was $2,200. They told me that they would give me a 48-hour notice when they would be arriving and they did not. I told them specifically I couldn't pick up from work and that they need to deliver on a Saturday. They guaranteed that is what it would be, and they did not. Basically everything they promised, they did not do. They were supposed to give me a 48-hour notice and they would tell me that they would deliver on a Saturday and they delivered on a Tuesday and they only gave me a day notice. As I am going through my boxes, I am missing a whole page of inventory that I can't check again. And, I am missing some items and then I had over 12 boxes of someone else's stuff. There is slight damage to my furniture. My night stand has scratches on it. My dining room table - when I put together, the corners they didn't pack them properly. I did speak to them when they called me that it is going to cost me more. I had a big argument but my stuff was already in the truck. First, it was over $5,000 and he brought it down to $4,400. I was not very happy because I didn't have that kind of money, so I had to borrow. The damages I have not spoken to anyone yet about because I haven't finished unpacking yet. So I haven't called them for that but I did call them in reference to boxes that I have of someone else's.

Would not hire or recommend them

I had hired four people and a truck but only three showed up. They are all very nice and very courteous but they broke one file cabinet which was plywood. And after I had complained about that, they made me sign a waiver. I didn't know what plywood was, so after I showed them that it was damaged they said it's okay we have insurance, the central office will come and fix it and it will be fine and he had me sign that they had come and did the work. One of the bullet points was there was a waiver for insurance for plywood and the guy was completely aware of that but he told me it would be fine anyway. So when I called them obviously they said "oh but you signed a waiver." So they didn't cover it, but other than that it was normal. I would definitely not hire them nor recommend them at all.

Good service but mediocre company

They bumped the estimate multiple times. I wasn't necessarily comfortable with that. I did receive all the services. There seemed to be some confusion by the company as to when the movers would actually show up. Nobody seemed to be having a firm understanding of that. I would say there was definitely some disorganization. If you ask me if I would recommend them to somebody else, I would say no. Packing was okay. I would say five or six out of 10. The movers themselves - they are contracted by the company. The guys that actually moved - they are not employees of the company. They did a very good job but that is not really attributed to Express Line Moving themselves. So the movers were very polite and professional. I had no problems with them.

Reasonably priced excellent service

The service was excellent, very good. The movers are very professional. They packed everything well. They did a good job in a timely manner. The price was pretty decent. It was good. They were really accurate. Yes the price was very reasonable. Nothing was damaged. I think they were pretty okay. They were both working together. Everything was good. I think they did everything prettty decent as expected. I would definitely recommend to someone else. The staff were professional. For future customers I can say that they were economical and were professional. I didn't had any problems with them. I do have one comment. When they gave me the quote there was a discrepancy as far as the wrapping of my items. First when they gave me the quote they said everything was included. When the movers came they said they charged extra for the tape and wrapping. That was the only discrepancy I had but they still worked out a deal with me and gave me the tape. I had to pay for the tape only or something like that. That was still pretty reasonable. They were very compromising.
