How do I prepare my car for shipping?

Before you can transport your vehicle, there are a few preventative measures you must take to ensure your car arrives at your destination safely and without mishap.

• Check for leaking fluids. You could be held liable for any oil, coolant, or battery fluid leaks.
• Leave only 1/4 gallon fuel in the gas tank. Any more than this left in the auto's engine can leak during transport. 
• Check fluid in the expansion tank. You may be required to reduce fluid levels in the expansion tank to allow air and antifreeze in the system to expand with rising temperatures and pressure.
• Check the battery charge. You could incur extra fees if your car fails to atart when the shipper needs to roll the car off of the trailer.
• Disable any anti-theft alarms.
• Remove personal items from your car. The auto movers will not be liable for any items let inside the vehicle. If you are shipping your car overseas, you could encounter problems if the items don't clear customs.
• Remove or protect loose parts. Remove your antenna and any detachable parts. For parts that can't be removed, like spoilers and side mirrors, wrap them with protective covering.
• Wash and clean your car thoroughly. Cleaning the interior and exterior of your car will enable you to easily and carefully inpect if it for any dmamage before it is shipped. This way you will be able to clearly recognize if it sustains any new damage during transit.
