Taking a trip around the world and moving there are two totally different travels.

While you just simply pack a couple of suitcases for the first, you must relocate your entire household for the latter, making an international move a much more expensive endeavor. There are two ways to transport your belongings internationally. You can either choose a freight forwarding or moving company. One choice is not necessarily better than the other, however, picking a moving company may total less in the end.

Freight Forwarding

As it sounds, freight forwarding handles moving your household, or freight, forward from one country to the next. Importing or exporting your goods across country borders is not nearly as simple as moving your stuff from state-to-state in America. From handling important paperwork, such as a freight forwarder permit, to providing a one-stop payment center for customers, freight forwarding is a reliable and responsible way to ship your life across seas.

Moving Company

If you do not attain a freight forwarder permit, you must have a Federal Maritime Commission Number to transport your goods overseas. Like a freight forwarder, an international moving company will complete all necessary paperwork needed for your belongings to be brought into another country.

Shipping

If you decide to start new in another country and choose to leave behind most of your belongings, then internationally shipping the little you have to bring may be the option for you. Like with freight forwarding or moving companies, certain oversea shipping regulations must be followed when relocating your things.
