Got to get your grill from one backyard to the next? Moving your barbeque seems like a no brainer, but can sometimes be a little tricky depending on the type of grill you have. However, with a safety first mentality and a friend to help if needed, you will be making meat pies in your new backyard before you know it.

Gas fueled or Charcoal Grill

No matter whether your barbecue is gas or charcoal burning, you are going to want to remove the fuel no matter what the form. If you have a gas grill you will want to unscrew the tank connected to the base of your barbeque, or if it is a charcoal grill you will want to remove all the briquettes from underneath the rack. By doing, you are lighting your load so when you move the barbeque you will not place extra strain on your back.

Wheeled Grill

Gas fueled grills are usually have wheels on both or one side of the base, making the move of this type of barbeque a bit easier than those without wheels. As noted, remove the gas tank from the barbecue's base before moving. Once the tank is removed, tilt the grill towards you, steadily balancing it as you pull back.  Slowly begin to push the barbeque forward, steering it gently around any corners. Once you reach the back of the moving truck, drop the front wheels in the air down on the loading ramp and roll it up and onto the truck.

Handled Cart Grill

Often less heavy and without a fuel tank, handled barbeques are fairly easy to move as long as they do not weigh too much. While some handled grills are simply made up of a cooking grid, charcoal grid, lid, lower chamber legs and a venting system, others have enclosed cabinets built underneath for storage. With a handled cart grill, you will need the help of a friend to move it onto the truck, with either one of you on each side of the grill. Once all hands are securely around the grill handles, slowly pick the grill up off the ground and walk it carefully to the truck.

Kettle Grill

The easiest type of grill to move is the kettle grill. Almost always small and standing on two or four short legs, the very light portable barbeque is made to move around, making it easy to put in the back of the truck.

No matter what type of grill you have, make sure you remove all utensils that are in it or hanging off of it. These sharp objects can easily fall out of or off of the barbeque and pierce you while you are moving it.
