Hi, thanks for visiting Movers.com! I'll be glad to help you out and answer your question about storage pods. Storage boxes and PODS are a great innovation in the moving and storage industries. They are portable storage units that are conveniently delivered to your home, where you can then pack them with whatever you want before either placing them in a storage unit for a predetermined amount of time, or have them shipped to your new home.

How PODS are used

PODS can be used for both short-term and long-term storage and are the perfect alternative to storage facilities for a number of different situations where it might be more advantageous to have portable storage solutions than to have to commute to and from a remote storage facility location.

If you're thinking about renting a portable storage unit for your upcoming move, there are several companies that can provide this service or similar ones, but which one is right for you and your move will depend on several factors, including the size of your move and your moving budget. Your move is approximately 3 bedrooms and a garage worth of belongings, so the price that you pay for your portable storage unit will usually vary depending on the company that is offering the service.

Different types of PODS

PODS come in three different sizes, 7-foot containers, 12-foot containers, and 16-foot containers. Pricing for the PODS varies depending on where in the country you're located, as well as where you plan on moving. For local moves that are within 25 miles, the average cost for a 7-foot POD is around $116 per month, along with an initial delivery fee of around $90-100 to have it delivered to your home. Another delivery fee of between $100-225 will be added when the POD is shipped to your destination. In all, you are looking at a total cost of around $400 for a 7-foot POD unit. The price goes up for the 12-foot and 16-foot containers, with an average of around $170 per month for those sizes, plus delivery charges.
