Although there is no definitive correct answer here, as it can depend on the size of the home you're moving and how much stuff you have to pack, you really can never start packing too early.
As soon as you make the decision to move and you know for a fact that you're going to be moving, you can start the packing process. The earlier you begin, the more time you'll have to get everything organized and packed correctly, the way it should be. Why is it important to pack everything correctly? It's because items that are packed securely and carefully, and not hastily thrown in boxes, are a lot less likely to be damaged during the move.
If you really want a concrete amount of time to schedule the start of your packing in advance of your move, the most commonly mentioned guideline for this scenario would be about 6 weeks prior to your moving date, or roughly a month and a half. This should give you more than enough time to gather the right packing supplies and go through each room of your house carefully packing all of your belongings.
