Damaged House goods

In January 2021, I contracted the Lighthouse Van lines to move my household goods from Pine Bush, NY to Trenton, SC. I have moved over 12 times with the United States Army and in my entire time, have never received such poor service and deceitful follow-up with any of my moves. In January 2021, their packing team report to my home in NY. At first, I believed their work was as requested, but as they continued to pack and load items on to their truck, I began to notice the damage left behind. My solid wood floors had several scratches and there were large chunks of walls damaged where they moved out items and gouged out large chunks of plaster, chips in the baseboards and flooring. They made messes in all three of my bathrooms after use which required my wife to go back and re-clean because couldnt seem to hit the toilet and one toilet was left with fecal matter in the bowl. I contacted the company about the damages and was refunded a check for $150.00 for all the damages they did; which was wholly insufficient. I repaired most of the damage myself in an effort to help the company keep the costs down and the repairs were required in order to complete the sale. We arrived in SC and our household goods were place in storage until we closed on the new house; approximately 30 days in total. We scheduled and had delivery on 21 February 2021. Many of the boxes that arrived were smashed or damaged and some items were missing. We took pictures as instructed, filed the claim and waited for a response. Based on estimates received, there was in excess of $4000.00 damage. After speaking with their agent, I was informed that the owner was, difficult to deal with and that I would most likely not be reimbursed the total amount; and, as a result, only received a total of $150.00 for all of the damage to my NY property incurred by this so called moving company. I initially filed the claim on 1 April 2021 for the damaged goods upon arrival and unpacking in South Carolina. I was talked in to accepting a reimbursement total of $250.00 after several months of unreturned messages and going back and forth. I filled out the forms and sent them to their Assistant Claims Manager who told me to expect payment within 30 to 60 days. On 20 June 2021, I again contacted the Assistant Claims Manager and was told that they would be getting back to me. On 21 June 21, I received an email back from her stating that the individual who writes the reimbursement checks was out on vacation and would not return for another week. On 29 June 2021, I received another email stating that, unfortunately, the owner denied this claim. I have called and emailed several of this companies representatives and to date, not had any reply back. I finally got in touch with a claims examiner today (26 July 2021) who informed me that he had approved my request and submitted it to his assistant who sent the request forward to the owners wife; who happens to be the companies book keeper/accountant, and once wi

SCAM COMPANY

Stay away from this company. They pack stuck in a way to make you have to pay more do to space used. Large boxes used to back 4 small items. Things arrived broken and destroyed in which they proceeded to try to fix with clue including the poles to my 4 thousand dollar bed. Destroyed my bench to my kitchen table and slid furniture along my hardwood floors without a care in the world. Stuff was being dropped left and right due to them using day workers. We had workers bringing boxes of tape in the house like it belonged to us. They had no clue where anything went in the house because when they picked up the boxes were not marked. To make matters worse they wanted us to get rid of the boxes and plastic they left outside.

WARNING: DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They lie about the service you’ll get and the price you will pay. After contracting with Lighthouse, I was hesitant to continue my move with them because of some bad reviews I had read online. One of my main concerns was that people had stated that the estimate of cubic feet for space required was lower than the actual space required, and that extra fees were charged that they were not prepared to pay. Jackie assured me that those reviews were about another company, and not them. She said if I got an in-home estimate, it would be very close to the actual space required. When Chuju ( not sure of spelling-have only heard his name) did my in-home estimate, I had pulled everything out of storage areas. All cabinet doors were open. I showed him everything that would be a part of the move. He told me that my estimate for 1484 cf was accurate. He said it might go up to 1600 cf or it could go down as well. Jackie called me the next day and reaffirmed that the estimate was accurate. She said the actual pack might go up or down by as much as 10%. She told me that the move would take one day with 4-5 movers or two days with 3 movers. However, my move was scheduled for one day only, and there were only 3 movers. They didn't arrive until 11:00 a.m. Luis was the team leader. He told me that I had to pay half of the balance with a money order or cash. He said I couldn’t pay with a personal check. I knew I wouldn’t be able to get a money order or get cash on a Sunday. I frantically went through my contract to find where it said I could pay with a personal check. I found it and showed it to him. I also contacted Jackie about it. This is a company policy that the movers should have known. The moving team worked from around 11:00 am to 9:45 pm. I was surprised to see them wrap large items that I thought they would disassemble. I had been told that any IKEA furniture that I was moving would be disassembled before packing, and that I would need to sign a form releasing Llghthouse from liability in case there was a problem with reassembly. However, I had a queen size storage bed and a large cabinet that were not disassembled. They were wrapped and packed, which definitely caused them to take up more space. Many items were “thumped” down the stairs which left dents in the wood (we had refinished the stairs approximately one year ago). When the truck was finally packed, I was 816 cf over the estimate. Luis told me my move was flagged and I should call the next day because it would be rechecked upon drop-off at the storage unit. I spoke with Jackie the next day. She told me that Danielle would be getting in touch with me. She also told me that the rule is that I would only be charged an extra 10%, which would be $742.48. Do not hire these Theifs

These are lowlifes of the worst kind. They destroyed A dining Room Table that cost over 3 thousand dollars 30 years Ago they also destroyed 2 Led TV that they dropped on there Faces. The table alone would cost Close to Ten Thousand to replace. The TV's 1500.00 They offered me $100.00 they said I didn't take out the Insurance which they never offered me. They said the tvs were my fault because I packed them . But the truth is if you drop a new TV packed on its Face you will brake it. They told me they were fully Insured so I would hire them. What a Big Mistake! They also delivered a day before they scheduled to they threatened to put the furniture in storage me paying of course but on there paper work it clearly showed the next day for delivery. Please do yourself a favor and hire someone else . Also these crooks use several different names!

Stay Away from this FAKE Company

Is no star a possibility? This Company is a complete SCAM! Michael (413)200-7155 and (413) 296-1771 he will make you feel comfortable and its ALL A LIE! I even went as far as contacting there 1800 number and the people seem nice and friendly, and they tell you about the insurance they hold and COI's (certificate of insurance) but again its all a game. I wish I saw these reviews before I paid my $650.00 deposit. Needless to say Michael said he needed a 2 day window(which was Saturday Sunday) they were suppose to arrive between 10-12noon and no one showed. Say away from this company. They are now registered and have a US DOT number. And they say they are a "family" owned company... more like a family of con artist.

Lighthouse has no Operating Authority ...

Do yourself a favor and stay away from this company. These guys tried to charge me for 2,700 cubic feet. There are two problems with this. First, they used a 26' truck to load our whole household, which the maximum cubic feet a truck that size can hold is 1,700 cubic feet. Second, I decided to hire a real moving company (United) to pick up my goods, which were being held hostage, and they only used 1,500 cubic feet. I have since learned this company does not have any operating authority to transport household goods for hire and have multiple hostage situations on their record. Sincere and Skilled

We hired Lighthouse vanlines for our move a few weeks ago. They were just amazing. When I called them for a quote, they seemed very sincere and gave me a very reasonable quote. Their crew arrived on time. The movers were very sincere and skilled. I had some heavy belongings but they didn’t take a long time to finish packing everything. They were very careful while carrying and loading them into the truck. Thankfully, all my belongings arrived safely and the delivery was made right on the scheduled date.

Lighthouse vanlines is an extremely efficient moving company. I was surprised at how quickly they got everything done. On the day of our move, they asked very specifically what we did and didn't want pack. They placed the belongings very carefully. They didn’t spend much time to pack my belongings. The info on the website of this company was very helpful in planning my move. Overall, I was very impressed with the service. It was very easy to communicate with them. They were very efficient movers. They moved me out with a well organized way. I would highly recommend them and want to use them again.

Personal Touch

From the starting to the finish, I was very impressed with the service of Lighthouse vanlines. They were both extremely helpful from the outset and answered all my questions and queries. We really got a great service with a personal touch. They wrapped our delicate glassware with their special soft poly bags. They didn’t make any mistake. We were satisfied and comfortable enough. They were really friendly and were behaving like family member.

The team of Lighthouse vanlines tried their best to secure our movement as smooth as possible. Nothing was lost or damaged at all. Everything was packed safely. They were nice, sincere and on time. Overall our experience was good. They didn’t charge any extra for my fragile items. Experience means a lot in this type of moving business. I really have no complaints against them. They wrapped our belongings one by one and picked them up in their truck. No hesitation to recommend them and want to use them again.

Lighthouse vanlines was truly professional and friendly. They arrived on time as we had asked them to and our house was cleared within two hours. We were too much annoyed with the whole moving thing but they turned it into an easy and smooth one. Everything was moved, stored and settled carefully. There was no damage to any of our items! Some of our antique pieces were almost fragile but they didn’t ignore those things. They packed them carefully too. I was impressed.

I told them to pack my violin carefully as it was very precious to me and they exactly did that. I was satisfied with their service. All items arrived in good condition

I was so much happy when I bought my new apartment. I had to depend on Lighthouse vanlines because I was not expert to move alone. So, I hired them. I was truly blessed to have Lighthouse vanlines by my side while relocating. They were super-fast without any single problem. The driver was very expert. Very professional

The movers from Lighthouse vanlines arrived on time and were ready to start right after they arrived. They made the move easy. I had some broken items and their expert helped me to fix those and the items are likely better than ever before! I owe this company for this job. The guys were not only careful for my belongings rather they were extremely alert about the walls and floors. So generally what happens, when a mover finishes works they leave behind a lot of signs of broken items or walls but here these guys were absolutely successful. There was no damage. This was wonderful.

Great first experience

This is the first time I have used a moving company, Lighthouse vanlines was quick to respond after my initial contact and happily made the changes I needed. On one of the hottest days of the year the crew did a wonderful job. They called and communicated their arrival time, they never stopped working from the moment they started until everything was unloaded and set up at the new house. They took their time in making sure everything was put in the correct place and clearly communicated anything they saw prior to them loading so there wouldn't be any misunderstanding later. I would definitely use these guys again.

Well done guys

Lighthouse vanlines sent a foreman and his two helpers who were absolutely hilarious and very efficient for this job! They used pads on the feet of all our furniture which we really appreciate because our new home had new floors. These guys had the absolute best attitudes and were incredibly hard working. We really appreciate it. I hope we never need to pack and move again, but if we do, we will call Lighthouse vanlines.

Great and wonderful time

I had a great and wonderful time with Lighthouse vanlines. They were more than helpful. They are so friendly, it’s like I have known them for years! On the day of the move, they arrived 5 minutes early and began packing all of my things. They carefully packed all of the fragile items and loaded the furniture into their truck without bumping anything on the walls or stairs. They did an excellent job. No damages when I received my things. All was well! I had a superb move!

Your belongings are in good hands

If you want a perfect move, I highly recommend Lighthouse vanlines. They do care! If you watch them do their job, you can also tell that they care. They were careful about everything. Packing, wrapping, carrying it up and down the stairs, loading and unloading. I truly believe my belongings were in good hands. I could not find a single scratch on my belongings. They were efficient, hardworking and caring. I would like to recommend them to all!

Affordable and professional

I decided to go with lighthouse vanlines after reading their great reviews. I requested an estimate. The onsite estimate was very precise. They had great attitudes, were extremely friendly and polite, and most importantly, moved my belongings with the utmost care. It was a bit of a pain I'm sure as I kept telling them how careful they need to be with this one item and they were SO careful. I haven't opened all of my boxes yet but so far I haven't found any casualties of the move so YAY! I'll definitely be recommending them to my friends and family. Moving was so much easier than I thought it would be. And when I need to move again - I won't hesitate to call them.

Wonderful move

From start to finish, I was totally mesmerized by the way 4 movers from Lighthouse vanlines handled my move. They quoted so low to begin with. I would have been glad enough if they did an okay job given the price tag. But they elevated it to another level. I got a call from the company on the moving day asking if the movers could come early. I have never heard of movers who show up on time. Let alone be early.They finished the whole packing and loading process within a blink of eye. It was a sensational performance.They delivered on time, didn’t overcharge me and all my valuables were unharmed. God bless this company

Responsive

We were worried as we were let down from a previous removal company. But when we hired lighthouse vanlines it was very much impressive that they did it perfectly. They carefully moved all furniture from old place to the new one. Everything was intact. I didn’t find any unwrapped fragile things. Overall our experience was easier and less stressful. Their behavior was very sweet with us. Actually it was worth every penny of mine.

Nothing Broken

We are satisfied with the service we have received from lighthouse vanlines. They were on time. They delivered and stored all my furniture with no damage to any of my belongings. Nothing broke. This is what was so brilliant about their service. What can be an extremely stressful experience turned into the exact opposite! I chose Lighthouse vanlines because they were experienced and able to accommodate my budget better than one other company I checked. Their customer service was excellent and they moved smoothly. Efficiency redefined

This is the second time I have used Lighthouse vanlines. This time, as last time, they were quick and efficient, courteous and careful. I had a 10-year old 56" projection TV, the bulky kind that is actually two pieces bolted together. They loaded and moved it without taking it apart, and it worked as perfectly as it did before the move. Not even any loss of picture alignment, which can happen if it is handled too roughly. I also had a very heavy 50-year old Thomasville dresser; two pieces; held together by only three screws. I was really worried that something was going to happen to it, but as with the dresser it was delivered in exactly the same condition as before the move. The crew showed up and got down to business. They were focused and careful with everything they were moving. I would not hesitate to recommend the company to anyone.

Fantastic Moving Experience

I had a fantastic moving experience with lighthouse vanlines. Moving all those heavy furniture is not easy, but they managed to move everything without bumping it on any walls or staircase. They were so professional, efficient and coordinated. My move was completed without any damages or hidden fees. It’s kind of like a dream. Never experienced a move without problems until now. I am confident they do a good job

Lighthouse vanlines is very reasonable moving company and they are worth every penny. Due to past poor experiences with other moving companies, my family packed most of our belongings, but after witnessing how carefully the movers packed the remaining items, we will confidently have them pack the next time we use them if that ever happens. The moving crew did a super duper job with my move. They are well trained for sure. Moving all that furniture is not easy. They pulled off a great job with my move just a few weeks ago. My wife and I didn’t want to take the stress of moving and that is why we decided to hire professional help. We called Lighthouse van lines based on good reviews and spoke with their sales rep. He was kind, supportive, friendly and polite. The pricing was competitive and reasonable. On the day of the move, their team arrived only 10 minutes late. They brought along boxes, pads, covers tape, bubble wrap and etc. They patiently packed all our belongings and loaded everything on to their van. They gave the same level of effort when they unloaded everything. We were happy to see that nothing was damaged or scratched. It was truly a stress free move!
