Let's face it; drinking can be fun. Sure, the consequences afterward with the hangover is miserable, but hanging out with friends with a few beers is usually a great time. If you’re using movers to move, leaving behind your alcohol collection probably isn’t an option for you. So, will movers move alcohol? Read more to find out.

Will Movers Move Alcohol?

Alcohol is expensive and amassing enough of it to build your own home bar can get costly. Luckily, when it comes to moving alcohol, most movers will move it if it is:

  • Unopened
  • Packed up properly
  • Properly labeled

Let’s go over how to pack your alcohol.

How To Pack Alcohol

Make sure the bottles that you are packing are unopened before proceeding to pack them. Here are the supplies you will need:

  • Double layer box (although any box will do)
  • Bubble wrap
  • Tape
  • Sharpie or another type of marker

You will want to first begin by assembling the box. Next, we recommend wrapping your bottle in bubble wrap or another padded material to protect the bottles of alcohol while they’re being moved. We also recommend using a sheet or two of bubble wrap on the bottom of the box to properly protect the bottles.

Now you will want to pack the alcohol bottles into the box. Make sure they aren’t too crammed together, but that they are snug enough that they aren’t moving around anywhere. Remember to use enough boxes so that all your alcohol bottles fit together nicely without being stacked on top of one another.

You can now pad the top of the box with bubble wrap or whatever other padding you have (shirts, jackets, etc.). After adding the padding close the box and label it. You’ll want to label it something like "Wine - Fragile" or whatever you choose to label it. We recommend that you include “fragile” on the box, so it is handled with care.

Opened Bottles of Alcohol

What should you do with the opened bottles of alcohol you have lying around? You have a few options depending on your situation.

If you are driving to your new home, you could always pack your alcohol up and bring it with you in your vehicle. Just pack it up the way we outlined above and put it in your vehicle to take with you as long as it is in the trunk or very back of your vehicle.

Another option is to either 1) have a party and drink it, or 2) give the bottles to your friends. While we personally think that a party is always a great option, it is completely up to you.

Regardless of what you decide to do, moving alcohol doesn’t have to be complicated or a chore. If your liquor is unopened then a mover can move it for you. If your alcohol is opened, then packed it up safely and move it with you in your vehicle, or drink it up before you move.
