Unprofessional, inaccurate estimate

My fiancée and I received hundreds of telephone calls when we requested a quote for a long-distance move. This company gave us a false low estimate to win the competition among the moving companies. They sent us a contract and collected the deposit and confirmed a date 2 weeks in advance. However, on the moving day, when we were helpless and out of options, the movers asked for a completely outrageous amount of money and when we confronted them, they canceled the move one sidedly! In our case, the primary contract said that stairs and fuel surge prices are included in the quote. For any extra stuff they said they will charge 6$ per cubic foot. Two movers were sent to our locations with a huge truck around noon. They entered the apartment and eyeballed our boxes and furniture. We told them we have couple of extra boxes/small furniture (like side table or small foldable chair) we would like to add to our contact. The guy chuckled and told us that he wants double the amount that we agreed on to move our stuff. On top of that he doesn’t warranty that we get our stuff delivered to us by tomorrow. We had to call the company and tell them that their mover claims that we need to pay them double the contracted fee and his justification is that the primary quote was only an estimate (and is wrong with a large gap). We mentioned that we are willing to measure extra boxes and furniture and pay extra according to the contract but the customer service got furious and raised her voice at us, saying that they go by what the driver says. Then the guys started filming our apartment without consent and texted the video to someone. We told them that we will write a review and explain that what they do is very unprofessional. Right after this the mover told us that his boss said to cancel the move! He took away the second contract, refusing to give us a copy (he double charged us for stairs and gas on it) and without sending us an official email with a reason for cancellation, walked out of our apartment. We were sitting there in shock and thinking that we need to vacate the apartment and return the keys in 2 hours. Their customer service refused to help us when we called them to explain what happened. They are extremely rude and unprofessional. What they do is stealing the deal from other companies and double charge you on your moving day when you have no other choice but to accept what they want.

Will use them again and again

They were friendly and knowledgeable about how to move our materials. Absolutely nothing was a problem for them, including the disassembly and assembly of my bed frame, moving my wardrobe, protecting the glass top to my coffee table and my mirrors, and much more. I would highly recommend these guys to friends and family.

I have heard and read some terrible reviews on moving companies. So I was skeptical to hire them for my move last two weeks ago. When I called World Van Lines, they seemed quite reliable. The customer service seemed friendly enough to convince me. They quoted quite reasonably too. The crew arrived on the moving day 10 minutes early. They took very less time to pack up my 2-bedroom apartment. My belongings arrived in great condition. I really don’t understand why so many people have bad things to say about the moving companies because my move went so smoothly. Perhaps, these guys aren’t like other moving companies.

Each of my belongings was carefully packed into boxes and the furniture was wrapped in shrink tapes. They loaded the truck efficiently. The movers were quite fast which meant less money for me pay. They delivered on time and nothing was lost or broken. It was very successful move given the time constraints.

These guys at World Van Lines are amazing. A friend of mine recommended World Van Lines and I just gave them a call to check them out. From that moment I felt good. The sales rep is a great guy. He assured me that my move will be handled with great care. And yes, they did. The moving crew came in, packed, loaded and delivered. Just like that. No damages at all. The only hard part of this move was waiting for my things to arrive. Besides that, it was an easy move.

Terrible service from the company - ...

My move was scheduled and confirmed in writing between 7-9am with a call 30-40 mins before arrival. When it got to 8.30/40 I started to worry. Unfortunately, the office doesn't open until 9 am so I couldn't call to see if they were on their way and had just forgotten to let me know. Like many high rises, I had a set time I had paid and reserved the elevator for so the move needed to have been started at 9 am latest in order to work out. WVL were knowledgeable of this and actually wrote a note in my quote so that they would know I was under time constraints. After back and forth with the office and the driver, they finally arrived at 10.15 am which left 45minutes to finish the job. With this being impossible I had to pay another $100 fee for the service elevator. The supervisor, Avi, told me the truck had malfunctioned and this was the cause of the delay. However, the driver told me that he'd never been assigned the job and only found out at 9 am the same day. Due to the rush, the majority of my furniture unfortunately is scratched or damaged. I do not blame the movers for this who I feel did the best job they could under the circumstances they were given. I blame the supervisor, Avi. When I confronted him about his lies and said I do not feel I have had the service I should have, he became extremely defensive. Like many companies, you pay for travel time. When I asked him why should I pay for the time it took them to come when they arrived very late he said very rudely 'this isn't a flea market where you can do and pay whatever you want!'. The ONLY reason I paid the amount I was originally quoted is because the movers had been in such a stressful situation and I wanted there to be no impact on them or the future of their jobs. How terrible is that though? As a customer, it is not my responsibility to show more care and concern for these drivers than it is their employers. I believe that if Avi knew how to schedule properly and treat his employees fairly, my belongings would be in better shape because they would have had more time and less pressure. I am left very unhappy and now have to pay more money to replace/repair my belongings.
